The Selection Committee will evaluate:
- In view of the relatively small number of appointments, preference will be given to those who have made an effort to seek strong collaborations with NCSA staff.
- Faculty members who have previously spent time in residence at NCSA are encouraged to apply for a second year Fellowship. Second Year Fellowships will be awarded based on the project's progress made during the first year of Fellowship.
- The significance of the proposed project and the quality of the plans to carry it out.
- The project's programmatic relevance to NCSA.
- Recipients of past planning grants are encouraged to apply to the program. However, they will be competing on an equal basis with other applicants for fellowships.
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to propose projects that involve NCSA's staff expertise in the development of their proposals. Plans to involve NCSA Staff as on-going collaborator in the proposed project is preferred.
- Interdisciplinary collaborations, such as those between science and the arts, or science and the humanities, are encouraged.
Please Note: This program is intended to promote technology exploration and foster connections with NCSA. It is not intended to fund the first phase of multi-year studies or development projects. Funding will enable a maximum of twelve Fellowships.
The outcome of the proposal review will be communicated in early May.
